April Overboard: Tackling Boat Fixes with Finesse

In October 2024, we cruised on our boat from Connecticut to SSI. Since then, we've been hard at work making numerous upgrades and necessary changes. Here's a rundown of what we've accomplished so far. However, there's still more to be done before we embark on our Loop adventure in a few years. We've compiled a list of needs and desires, prioritizing what must be done immediately and what can wait.

  • Professional Detail and Wax

  • Deep cleaning inside

  • Bought all new matching lines

  • Added storage bins, baskets and containers to maximize storage space

  • Installed new bilge pumps

  • Installed new induction cooktop

  • Replace GFCI in helm area

  • New AC units in 2 Staterooms

  • Recovered sofa in Salon

  • New bedding in 2 Staterooms

  • Installed New breaker for the retractable power cord

  • All batteries were tested

We have more to go before we start our Loop in a few years.  We have a list of needs and wants prioritized by must do now and what can wait for a while.

Our next MUST DO project, scheduled for the end of April, is applying new bottom paint. We plan to take the boat to a different marina and have it hauled out for the necessary bottom paint application and a few additional repairs. Hopefully, this will mark the completion of our major projects for the year.

Below are a few snapshots from our April adventures.

Cruised about 3 hours

  • Left SSI headed by Jekyll and then to Brunswick

  • We got a little brave and went into open water in front of SSI/King and Prince beach area

  • Grilled burgers for dinner

First trip out

  • Talisha moving lines and fenders

  • Engine checks and installing AGLCA flag before departing
